What is my hot librarian fantasy? THIS is my hot librarian fantasy.

Sometimes it’s hard to explain why augmented reality apps might be useful in a library setting. Until now. QR codes, and an app that tells you when your books are out of order. Rowr.

What happens if your book spines are less than one inch wide?

    Cute but pointless.

Can’t they already do this with RFID? Only, instead of an X, it beeps?

I kind of like it, but if I am going to put a new thing on every single book in my library, I kind of prefer RFID since it can be multipurpose. Still, the idea that a lot of the tedium could be taken out of shelfreading IS appealing.

    Janet,

I tend to agree. I was actually thinking that with RFID combined with a 3d model ofthe library- assuming the rfid also carried the dimensions of the item- you could do this virtually. I mean integrating the rfid into a map of the library that overlays the image in the ap.
