USA today covers bloggers at DNC

USA Today's take on the bloggers at the convention. I like the part where the author calls us 'pretend' journalists. I feel like I should make one thing perfectly clear. I don't speak for all bloggers, but I'm not a journalist, pretend or otherwise. I'm a politically active and involved librarian, and somehow got chosen to come to the convention and share my impressions. I listen pretty good, and write fairly well. I get to operate somewhat outside of the normal news structure of editors, deadlines and "access" while at the same time having an established reputation in the librarian community and the blogger community. Those reputations are important to me. I try to make this web site worth a damn not because I get paid and want to keep getting paid [total contributions to this site to date = 0] but because I want to tell people what's happening, and share my access with them. It's a common librarian trait. It's not about me, it's about all of us. Posted by jessamyn at July 15, 2004 07:47 AM

You go girl! Your curiosity, feisty-ness, and willingness to share are among the traits that bring me back to your site. Glad you'll be there to enlighten those so-called journalists!

Hear, hear! Can't wait to read it all here.

I hope to see the bloggers out there (at BOTH conventions) paying attention to the topics that get ignored by the newshandlers and arrangement specialists, out of a pathetic and trembling fear that something unscripted might happen.
