Very timely article, given that a couple of librarians and myself just launched our new blog this week: infodoodads.com. We're hoping our blog fills a niche that we want filled (updates on cool an emerging web info tools).

Also, I am a member of another blogging community located at houseblogs.net. I really love their platform. Also, my personal blog wouldn't be nearly as popular if it wasn't from all the traffic it gets through houseblogs.

"I’d like to be able to do more fine tuning to get custom feeds of library blogs as groups and not just as individual rss feeds."

Have you tried http://www.LibWorm.com? Does it do some of what you wanted? Any suggestions for improvement? :)

Best,
