Come Together @ Your Library, just don’t get caught on tape
It’s the joke that writes itself. Here, juxtaposed for your enjoyment, are the Carl Monday blog post about the masturbator in the public library, the one that he caught on videotape and humiliated in the name of investigative journalism. Also, here is the press release about the National Library Week theme: Come Together @ Your Library. I have a poster suggestion here and a racier one here and my final contribution here.

Well, at least they are together rather than someone by him or herself. I often wonder if anyone actually checks these slogans before they are made public. I mean, that one is just screaming do posters like yours (or more explicit). Best, and keep on blogging.

I’m just glad I’m not the only one who had that perception!

I know this isn’t true, but seeing slogans like that makes me wonder if there isn’t someone in ALA who revels in the attention of the Carl Mondays and John McCains of the world, someone who stays up nights thinking about double entendre slogans and comments that will enflame the religious right.
Your poster ideas made me giggle. Especially the “lesbian” one. Of course, the poster that’s still missing is the one that features naked people who “look like librarians.”

That’s OK. The Teen Read Week theme this year is “Get Active @ your library”. Maybe next year they can have a fishing theme “Master Bait @ your library”.

[...] My co-worker, Marlee pointed me to the um, interesting theme for 2007 from ALA for National Library Week. Read all about it on Jessamyn’s blog – with some interesting takes on this theme. Loves it. The name is: “Come Together @ Your Library.” We are gonna have a FIELD day with that one next year. Such Joy!! This is probably my favorite take on by J on this – can you guess why? Oh, my conference proposal was officially accepted for the Mississippi Library Association Annual Conference in October. I will be speaking on October 25 from 10-12 on: Using Social Software to Share Your Library with the World. [...]
